512 Hz sondes, sometimes known as "moles" or "beacons", are compatible with any Schonstedt pipe and cable finder. Sondes benefit a wide range of industry applications. When combined with video inspection equipment, they can help identify blockages or pipeline faults in water and sewer systems. You may trace a path and calculate the depth of a nonmetal pipe like HDPE, PVC, transcite, or clay tile. In cable applications, they can be used to trace empty fiber-duct or nearby conduit runs and terminate at unmarked subterranean vaults or splice boxes. The deep precision of a sonde's position can help to save excavation expenses and time. A self-contained battery-powered sonde can detect depths of up to 15 feet, depending on the frequency.
