The International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) manufactures ten distinct concrete profiles using diverse surface preparation processes. Each profile has a CSP number, ranging from CSP 1 (almost flat) to CSP 10 (extremely rough; amplitude higher than ¼" [6 mm].
These chips serve as a visual and tactile comparison for determining the level of surface roughness. The user compares prepared concrete to CSP chips and reports the chip number that is most similar to the surface. Many jobs will indicate the sort of surface preparation needed.
The ICRI CSP Chips measure approximately 16 square inches (3.5" x 4.5") and are intended to imitate the ten surface profiles indicated below.
